Human Design For Self-Discovery
Finding out my Human Design type truly changed my life. I follow my birth chart religiously, but it wasn’t until I heard my fave inspiration & expander, Jordan Younger aka The Balanced Blonde, talk about this on her podcast that I decided to check out what my design type was. Human Design is similar to your birth chart as it uses your time and place of birth to determine your type. However, It also blends in your personality type and chakra system by determining which points are open, closed, or defined. There are a total of 5 types in the HD world, my friend Katie does a great job of breaking them down here. Find out your type here!
The Generator: They’re here to respond to opportunities that are right for them
The Manifestor: They’re here to initiate and go after their vision
The Manifesting Generator: They’re here to do many things and respond to what lights them up
The Projector: They’re here to guide other types and wait for people to see their uniqueness
The Reflector: They’re here to observe and mirror the world around them
Knowing your type is a way to understand your genetic design and your strategy for navigating through life. When I found out I was a Reflector, I did not realize how incredible or rare it is. Seeing that only 1% of the population is this type, I began researching more. Particularly, I’ve been listening to more episodes where Jordan talks about her own personal journey with it. I’m starting to understand myself in a way I’ve never been able to before. I learned that quirks or my energetics were part of my makeup. It taught me that my strategy is to wait for a full lunar cycle to make big decisions and to “test” experiences out to feel if it was aligned for me. I learned that my authority is undefined and as someone with all open centers, I don’t have anything guiding me. I am here to be a mirror for others. Before knowing this information, I would say yes to things that were definitely not aligned, I would feel frustrated by my indecisiveness, I would take jobs and work that was not part of my life purpose, I would live by a certain planned schedule with no room for fluidity. I learned that because I reflect back on others, not everyone is going to like what they say and in turn, may not vibe with me, and that’s fine. That is their own inner work they need to do. But being around people to fill my energy with positivity is crucial for my well-being.
Human Design is an amazing tool in our self-discovery journey that allows us to live a life based on our unique energy. It allows us to work better with our co-workers, peers, and partners when we know and understand their type. For example, knowing that my husband is an MG, I know that he does not respond to open-ended questions. It’s easier to get an answer from him when I ask a yes or no question.
Some other resources that have helped me is following Jenna Zoe and using her app, as well as following Erin Claire Jones who has great insights and weekly intentions for each type.
